WebPrecision M/T Output Shaft Seal - 223801. A camshaft seal is placed between the cylinder head and the valve cover to seal the end of the camshaft on overhead cam engines. Like all seals, they can eventually wear out and leak oil. If they begin to leak, you may notice oil near the back of the engine under the valve cover. WebMar 7, 2012 · The PTFE ALWAYS leaks for me. The spring seals go in perfectly and never have a problem. Besides, the PTFE has to sit for 4 hours after install before you can rotate the cam. Average TB job is 3-3.5 hours. There is a nice tapered shield for the end of the cam that allows the new seal to easily slide into place without hooking on the keyway.

They were closely inspected too and are not leaking. The valve cover bolts are tight. All checked. The timing belt kit had the new teflon seal for the camshaft.
